water_x_s.jpg (18094 bytes)At 4WD Encounter, we promote correct off-road driving techniques, so as to minimise the impact on the environment. We believe in recreational 4WDriving on existing, well-defined tracks, and strongly discourage venturing off such tracks.

We are keen supporters of the "Tread Lightly" organisation, whose sole purpose is to encourage all involved in outdoor recreation to be responsible and apply low impact principles to all outdoor recreational activities. We encourage you to visit the Tread Lightly Web Site.

Given that we endorse environmentally friendly driving techniques, we are also strongly in favour of allowing controlled 4WD access to most Forest areas. We are rapidly loosing access to many 4WD areas, as CALM and some politicians are of the belief that 4WDs destroy the environment.

One by one, these areas are being closed off for public access, yet logging is still carried out in Old Growth Forests! In a few years time, I may not be able to take my children through remote dense Forest scenery, or to rugged un-touched south-west coastline. We therefore support the "Keep Our Coast Open" organisation, who have been rallying support for many years, to ensure that we continue to have access to these remote areas.
