Skip's 4x4
My Holden Rodeo's fitout & development.

Skip's 4x4
This is my Rodeo how I bought it on 6 April 2000. It had no accessories at all, except for a cover for the back. It had the factory fitted 205R16 tyres on factory 16x6" rims.

I had the car tinted with Tint-a-car's Formula 1 tint on the day I bought it.

The day I bought it!
Only 2 days later, I bought 4 x Heavy duty, powder coated 15x7" rims, and 31" x 10.5R15 BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA / KO tyres. This picture shows the comparison of the new tyres to the old. Note that they are both bigger diameter and width. Comparison of tyre size
Here is the back end of my car after just fitting the new wheels and tyres in my garage. The new tyres fitted
Next, I fitted my GME Electrophone TX3000 UHF CB radio into the dash. The previous owner already had the coax run to a mount in the middle of the roof, so connecting the antenna was easy! The UHF radio installed
And this is what my Rodeo looked like on it's maiden voyage, on Sunday 9th April, only 4 days after I bought it!

But the development of this vehicle is on-going, and I have a long way to go. In the next week, I will be fitting the Bull bar, Snorkel, and spotties. Stay tuned!

Maiden voyage to Mundaring
Then on April 20, I had the ARB Steel bull bar and Safari Snorkel fitted. As soon as I got it home, I fitted my 2 x Hella Comet 500 spotties, and my 6db UHF antenna to it! Yep! It is starting to look like a 4WD now! ARB Bullbar, Safari Snorkle and Spotties
Then I had to spend some BIG bucks! On June 19, I put the car into ARB for install of the High Roof Canopy, Heavy duty tow bar, and suspension kit, consisting of 4 x Old Man Emu shockies, and new leaf springs in the back. However I was not happy with the new springs as they were too stiff and no higher than originals, so on 22nd June I ended up getting Wilkinson's Suspension to overhaul and re-install my old leaf springs. They re-set and added a leaf to my old springs, making it both 25mm taller and softer, and now it rides real nice. I also ended up cranking up the front torsion bars to get 20mm extra height out of the front. Rodeo after canopy and suspension installed
On 20th Nov 2000, I put the car into ARB to be fitted with Rhino track mounted roof bars, using the Rhino Commercial leg, and Rhino Aero-bars, and a Rhino steel luggage basket as well. Here is a picture of the roof with the luggage basket on.  Rodeo after the Rhino Rack was installed.
Leading up to my CSR (Canning Stock Route) trip in July 2001, I fitted several smaller components, including: Auxiliary Battery - I have mounted a huge 91AH deep-cycle battery in the rear cargo area, with it's own custom solid state charging / isolating circuit and power outlet, for use with my Waeco CCF45 fridge/freezer. It is mounted in a plastic battery box. Dif Breathers - I have fitted high mounted breathers to the front diff, rear diff, and transfer case (which is linked to gearbox by small breather pipe). Each breather has a ceramic filter on the end, which traps both dust and water. Cruise Control - A Zemco ZT-9 cruiser control has been fitted to make long-distance cruising much more relaxing. Gauges & alarms - Volt gauge, Headlight reminder alarm, oil pressure alarm buzzer. Radiator protection - stainless steel mesh to keep the bugs out! Compressor - Inter compressor mounted in a box in the rear cargo area (running off auxiliary battery), cabled to power via switch, and ducted to air via a plug-in 7m long air hose. Rodeo after the Rhino Rack was installed.
