Skip's 4x4
Day 8 - Sunday 21st
Black Point to Home (403k)
Start odo 148730. Work up and got fire
cranked up, and had Eggs on toast for breaky, But Russ still had Bacon left, so they had
Bacon with "toad in a hole" (egg fried in a piece of bread with it's centre cut
out). Yum! Glen wet a line before breaky and only caught a couple of small herring, but
lost 5 rigs to the reef and 1 (alleged) large fish! We left Black point and headed West
along the excellent 4wd track towards Augusta. This track is quite narrow, sandy in parts,
winding, and has regular hill climbs that require a few revs. Often these hill climbs are
around blind corners, making for quite interesting 4wding! After some 25k, we came out at
Millianup Coast road (gravel) which we followed west until Scott road, and back onto
brockman hwy. Bitumen at last! We headed into Margaret river, for a snack from the bakery,
then onto the Fonti Cheese factory for some cheese tasting and a milkshake. Then the long
haul to Bunbury, where we had fish & chips for lunch, at the famous dolphin beach,
then the even longer haul back home, via the main roads. We got home about 3:45pm. The end
of a fantastic holiday! Total distance covered was 2898 kilometers, of which about half
was off road. I hope you have enjoyed my pictures, and these trip notes. And I hope it has
wet your appetite, so you will come along with us on the next trip! Please email me with
your feedback (email address is listed below the photos). Bye! - Alan (Skip)
