4WD Encounter is the product of two old high-school friends who share a common interest in 4WDrives. It started off as a series of web pages, written by Alan, to promote his computer company Professional Pc Support and grew from there. When Mark saw Alan's home page with some of his 4WD exploits, he thought it looked great and that he could help add some information, having previously worked as a 4WD Instructor.
From here, Mark and Alan decided to create a website for all 4WDrivers, early in 1998. The site was built up over 4 years, and attracted quite a following. Sadly however, as life became busier for Mark and Alan, it was decided to not continue updating the site, as it became quite time consuming. And so there has been very few updates since late 2002. Alan does however continue to update his site located here.
